Great Summer Tune

Lead singer of Vampire Weekend, Ezra Koenig joins forces with The Very Best. It’s like a fusion of hip hop, reggae, dance, and pop. It’s a great tune to listen to during the summer. Check it out below:

The Very Best – Warm Heart of Africa (feat Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend)

And here is a remix of The Kids Don’t Stand A Chance for good measure:

Vampire Weekend – The Kids Dont Stand A Chance (Chromeo Remix)

K’naan

Soooo…This guy is good. He is right up my alley when it comes to Hip Hop. I recommend you check out his album Troubadour right away. It’s not for everyone though… The album is all over the place which may turn some people off…that and the fact that he’s just a mediocre rapper. It goes from straight hip hop, to rock, to straight pop, back to laid back hip hop. Sometimes the changes happen in one song (see If Rap Gets Jealous.) That song features Kirk Hammett for Christ’s Sake! I dig it and I hope you do as well.

Some of my favorites:

I think this is my favorite track off the album

Very up tempo poppy song featuring Adam Levine from Maroon 5

Laid Back…Great Song

AHH The Power of Twitter – John Mayer on D.O.A.

JohnMayer

QuestLoveI am very excited.

1901 – Phoenix (Cool Video)

Jay Z – Death of Autotune

I find it funny that I just posted on Discovery, using autotune, yet I really like this track and the video especially. Did Jay Z just become a rockstar…”I could wear black for about 4 years” Watch out Lil’ Wayne “Prom Queen”, there’s a new rapper turned rocker.

Some Deadmau5

We Love DeadMau5.
DeadMau5 with some new ProgHouse…actually just a retooling of Ghosts N Stuff

It’s Been a While

It certainly has been a while…about a weekend.  Well I was busy in East Lansing…but now I’ve got some stuff to share.  Specifically, my favorite music for the summer time weather.  I’m aware of a couple people’s hard drives who have gotten fried, and so I’ll do my best to assist you with the most pressing downloads.  Here on the site, we won’t give you the links to the torrents…but we’ll let you know what to download (and if we tell you what to download, trust us, there is a torrent).

Discovery – LP:
They are psychic:

Devendra Banhart:

I just like how weird he is.  Period.  Freak Folk will always have a special place in my heart during the summer.  Get on a boat and jam out to:

I suggest you rush to nearest torrent dealer and pick up serious quantity in both Devendra and Discovery. I guess today was a D-day.

Nifty Tune

I heard this song on Alt Nation on Sirius and also because it was the free download on iTunes.  They remind me on the White Stripes in a convoluted way.  The dudes voice is similar, and if you have ever listened to the WS song’s where Meg sings, then you would recognize that this chick sounds similar.  Enjoy

Music to Steal in July

No one can find a job and Sugar Ray is releasing an album in the next few weeks. July won’t totally suck though. Check this shiz out.

Portugal. The Man-The Satanic Satanist
Needs no introduction.

Discovery-LP
If The Postal Service grew testicles they’d sound like Discovery. And yes, that’s actually what their album is called.

The Dead Weather-Horehound
Note to Brian: If you have an erection lasting longer than 4 hours, stop listening.

Sick Puppies-Tri-Polar
Just kidding. This band is terrible.

The Fiery Furnaces-I’m Going Away
This band isn’t.

Drudkh-Microcosmos
Easily the best Black Metal album released this year. \m/

Wye Oak-The Knot
This should hold me over until Midlake gets their shit together and releases their third LP

Howling Bells-Radio Wars
I don’t know. It’s good. Just fucking listen to it.

Friday Flashback

I have something very special for you today boys and girls. In 1998 the German alt-rock group Liquido released their single Narcotic. Sporting an amazingly catchy keyboard riff, Narcotic is hands down one of the best party songs of all time.  Word of warning though: before you click play, make sure that there are no fragile vases and/or toddlers in the area.  Narcotic will make you want to jump around and dance like you have never danced before.
